I started my knitting journey last May, a few months into quarantine, and fell into the niche of sock-knitting. After sharing my first few projects on Instagram, I began receiving requests from friends to knit them custom socks. I had just received a shipment of yarns in beautiful, warm autumn colors and decided it was the perfect palette for a fall sock collection. This was around the time when I began my nomad trip, so I packed a few balls of yarns with me and opened shop on the road.

In the last few months, I’ve really had to push myself to maintain my interests (running, reading, podcasts, etc.), sometimes without much success, so I’m thrilled that I’m passionate about this activity.

If you are starting a crochet project with a round center/base, creating a magic ring will allow you to have a completely closed center. Typically, these projects start with a few chain stitches that are joined to form a ring. This isn’t ideal as it would leave a small opening in the middle. The magic ring will allow you to close up the stitches altogether, with no gap in the center. What’s also “magic” about it is that you can work as many stitches as you’d like into the ring, and cinch it closed. Without further ado, let’s get started!
