Discovering Your True Self

Mountain Landscape in Hawaii

As the entire world shuts down and millions of people are forced to shelter in place, we are extracted from our daily routines and habits. It is in these unexpected transitions that we may experience personal growth or change. When placed in a new environment, we may find another side of ourselves. In these times, without distraction from the outside world, what do you find yourself gravitating towards?

hello & welcome

My name is Sally and I live in San Francisco, born and raised. I like to think, read, run, bake, knit, write, and create. So this is my corner of the internet where that all happens. Peruse my thoughts or learn more about me here.

Eeeek!!! 🤭😍 A gift to myself, just in time f Eeeek!!! 🤭😍 A gift to myself, just in time for Christmas 🎁

Over a year ago, I began sourcing the perfect yarn for this cardigan, and casted on in February. Ten months (and a few frogs and redos) later, I’m so pleased with how it turned out!! It’s still unblocked, but I couldn’t wait to try it on ☺️

Made with alpaca, mohair, and silk, this cardigan is lofty and cozy. I found these gorgeous wood buttons while traveling in Europe this summer, which completes this 100% natural-material knitwear. Every time I put it on, it feels like nature is giving me a warm hug 🥰

Picked up some bundles of fabric from @scrapsf to make these earth-toned placemats. This is my first time using the zigzag stitch on my machine and I love how it turned out!! Stay tuned for the whole set! 😊
Aside from knitting, I love repurposing old clothi Aside from knitting, I love repurposing old clothing! I couldn’t bear to part with this beautiful gingham pattern, despite not wearing this romper for several years. I finally decided to turn it into a tank top, just in time for the late heat wave that hit SF ☀️ It turned out beautifully and I’m so happy to put this piece back into my closet!! 😍
spent the last few months working on this piece… spent the last few months working on this piece… only to frog about half of it today 🥲 sigh hoping to salvage what’s remaining instead of starting over 🫠
a first look at what’s currently on my needles ☺️

this is THE biggest project I’ve embarked on so it’s been slow-going, but oh so satisfying to make progress. been envisioning this piece for awhile now and I’m so excited for when it’s done! (hopefully by end of this year 🤪)
my second sweater❗️😄❗️😍❗️🥹 I my second sweater❗️😄❗️😍❗️🥹

I had a vision in my head of a light, lofty sweater that I could layer in this SF weather. Fittingly, I found a @petiteknit pattern for this Cumulus Blouse ☁️

Weighing in at 170g, this is my lightest sweater, yet still very warm with its natural fiber content (75% mohair and 25% silk). This sweater is so comfy with its looser fit and drapes nicely as a custom sweater does.

I am beyond thrilled about how it turned out and resisting the urge to make a few more! 😆
